In a world where there are many sounds and noises, we tend to absorb every little thing in our environment. To the loud voices and opinions of others around you, to the ideas and people that tell you what you should be and what you should do and what you should be desiring, to the media you are being exposed to in those commercials that may seem harmless. The television shows and movies, to videos you are choosing to watch which seems like a curiosity at first is now turning into a habit. The things you are choosing to ignore or act upon, even your very own conscience and those thoughts in your mind that seem like a random thought, everything has a meaning behind every thought, action and emotion.
Be careful and be purposeful in what are you choosing to put in your mind because thoughts may turn into actions and become habits and which will eventually be your character.
You are not a garbage can. Do not put thoughts, ideas in your mind that will make you dwell in that thought that is in contrast with your values and morals because it will only pollute your mind and waste your time.
In a span of 24 hours, every minute and seconds of our time counts. Our time is so precious, in our busy schedules which is composed of our education, career, family and friends, the different communities we belong to and our own personal time. What are you choosing to fill your life with starts with what are you choosing to put your attention and mind into?
“Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed in the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)
It is important to self-reflect on these questions to determine your priorities, which will make a huge impact in how we live our lives:
- What thoughts and ideas do you put in your mind?
- Which voices are you choosing to listen to?
- How will I know God’s voice? How is it different from others?
Choosing to listen to God’s voice through His word and a relationship with Him should be intentional. Read and meditate the word of God and memorize the words in the bible, write it in the tablet of our hearts. Apply the wisdom and teachings and the ways of Jesus in our lives. Be prayerful- always pray and ask guidance to God. Having a prayerful life is essential in our Christian walk and in our faith. It enables us to communicate with God and intercede for people. Have faith that what you prayed for will come to fruition and know that God answers our prayers. Listen and be still in His presence and God will reveal himself to you as we seek and humble ourselves to Him. When we acknowledge God in all your ways, he will direct our lives in the right direction.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. “(Proverbs 3:6)
There is a step forward to the level of maturity when we are intentional with our time and actions. We will be able to live an abundant life that God intended for us to have when we are in God’s will.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
