Quarantine means staying home after a person has been exposed to a contagious disease, to see if they become sick. During the pandemic, people should quarantine after close contact with a person who is infected with coronavirus.
Quarantining helps to keep people who might have been infected separate from others so they don’t spread the virus.
Isolation means staying home when a person is infected with a contagious disease so they don’t spread it to others. It means staying away from family members too.
It was March 2021 and I was in quarantine and in isolation in a government facility at a hotel. I remember being carried outside my home in a white transport van and the one taking me in had a white biohazard suit and had a face shield and mask with gloves over them. I was not allowed to go outside my room, no visitors allowed, and the food had a variety of rationed foods provided by the facility. I was only allowed to go have a fresh air break for a maximum of one hour everyday. I kept my sickness a secret and confided to a few close friends and family. I had felt a wave of mixed emotions, a feeling of isolation but never alone because even though I felt trapped or caged, I was worshipping the Lord in my room and I felt the Lord’s holy presence with me.
“I believe that I’m at my lowest right now, but I know that I’m not alone and God is with me.” – Rosette Ann, 2021
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11
