The Garden, The Sacrifice and The Invitation
Life is beautiful, it is so wonderful how God created the heavens and the earth with so much detail and the precious thoughts that God thought when He made the intricate details of His masterpiece – us. How vast is God’s love for us. He gave us a precious gift called freewill which enables us to love God with our whole heart.
In the book of Genesis in the Garden of Eden, the story of Adam and Eve unfolds until we get to the part where they were given one simple instruction, to not eat from one specific tree. They were free to eat from any other fruit bearing tree in the whole garden except for the forbidden fruit. There was also the serpent that tempted them to eat the fruit.
Genesis 2:15-17: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
I asked myself, why didn’t just God erase humanity from Adam and Eve and start over again or why did he even put that tree in the middle of the garden?
The answer is that God values life and He loves us so much that He gave us freewill, He didn’t want robots in the first place. Love connects with freewill and that is to have a choice, a choice that Adam and Eve failed to do, they chose selfishness rather than God.
Another question that I have found asking myself is:
What is the meaning of life?
What is the purpose of life?
My friend asked me that question and I did not reply for months until I came up with an answer. I have read the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and another book called Life is____. by Judah Smith and came to this conclusion…
The bible is about a story of God’s amazing love toward man. God is love personified and we are created to be loved and love. We are the masterpiece of Gods creation and he wants us to have a relationship with Him but Adam and Eve chose selfishness rather than God. I always pondered why put the tree in the middle the garden anyway? The answer is because to love is to have free will. God wants us to love him genuinely and not force us to obey him. The theme of life is true love. We can see it all in the movies, songs on the radio and conversations. We were hardwired to love God but because of sin, we have strayed away and now we seek other forms of love like the love for fame, power, works of the flesh and greed in money.
but God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Believe in Jesus and receive Him. It is to Love, Trust, Obey, Praise & thank Him and use our gifts, talents and resources for the glory of God. It is to surrender our heart, soul, mind and strength by the feet of Jesus. It is to pick up our cross and follow Jesus everyday, so that when we enter the gates of heaven, Jesus will say “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"We love because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
Jesus made a way through his death on the cross bearing all our sin and shame and through his resurrection, being the centerpiece of our faith. Repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, be willing and available in God’s invitation towards His family and let God transform your life today.
You can have a relationship with God and you can accept Him in your life right now. It is not a coincidence that you are reading this article at this very moment, I believe God made a way for you to realize how He loves you very much and want to be part of His family.
