“I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born.” — Isaiah 44:2a CEV
Before I met the One who created me, I had a lot of questions on my mind:
- Why am I like this?
- Why do I look ugly?
- Why am I fat?
- Why do I always get rejected by girls I like?
- Why doesn’t anyone want to hire me?
- Why am I being bullied?
- Why am I suffering?
I was a very insecure teenager. Being rejected was one of my specialties, and I was very good at it. I got rejected for a job because my accent was pretty deep, and I clearly didn’t sound like I was qualified for the job anyway because of the way I conversed on the telephone. I got rejected by girls I liked, simply because I was better off as a friend — friend-zoned! I was always called fat, and that even became my nickname for some of the people talked to.
We all have gone through and are still going through these kinds of situations. Some even worse.
I don’t know what you are going through right now, how hard is life like for you right now, your situations right now… but I can only tell you one truth that I realized for us, YOU AND ME, as I am going through with my own challenges in life:
YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT!
You are NOT a mistake. You are no fluke of nature. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. Long before you were conceived by our parents, you were already conceived in the mind of God. You are God’s masterpiece! (Ephesians 2:10 NLT). It is not fate, nor chance, nor luck, nor coincidence that you are breathing at this very moment. You are alive because God wanted to create you!
God decides how you would be born. Regardless of the circumstances of your birth or who your parents are, God had a plan in creating you. It doesn’t matter whether your parents were good, bad, or indifferent. God knew that those two individuals possess exactly the right genetic makeup to create the custom “you” He had in mind. While there are illegitimate parents, there are NO illegitimate children. Many children are unplanned by their parents, but they are not unplanned by God. God’s purpose took into account human error, and even sin.
Because God created you for a reason, he also planned the days of your life in advance, choosing the exact time of your birth and death (Psalm 139:16-18 NLT). God also planned where you’d be born and where you’d live for his purpose. Your race and nationality are no accident. God left no detail to chance. He planed it all for His purpose. Nothing in your life is arbitrary. It’s all for a purpose (Acts 17:26 NIV).
From that truth that I have realized, I was finally able to understand why I am like this. This truth opened my eyes on how God LOVES us so much. We are this way because God created us. And we are NOT accidents on this world; we are created for His purposes!
It is a long and hard process for me to overcome my insecurities, but I know that with God, I can overcome these things. God’s LOVE is enough! God is enough!
I am NOT like this for NO reason at all. I know that I am not an accident. God created me to be in this time-frame of life, with this kind of physical appearance, and with this kind of personality for a reason.
Whatever you are going through, I am telling you this now, you and I are NOT accidents! You may have been suffering in a way, as you are journeying your life right now, but all those hardships you are going through right now are for the reasons and purposes of God. You are to bless Him, instead of curse Him, for He had made us perfectly in His eyes.
- You are a very SPECIAL person to God. A precious jewel!
- You are very BEAUTIFUL. You are fearfully and wonderfully made!
- You are ACCEPTED by God. God believes in you so much!
Do not ever forget that. Embrace who you are! Know that God loves you so much that holding on to that truth should not make you waver from how this world defines you! God loves you and that’s what matters!
Thank You Lord for You have placed me in this kind of life, with my family, my friends, and those who love me dearly and who I love dearly in return. I will treasure what life I have now, for I know that You have planned my life from the very beginning. I love YOU so much! In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
God bless you!
